Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

Hailed as the "Godfather of Metroplex Honky-Tonks", Tommy Alverson is one of our favorite Texas musicians.

Alverson is known for songs like "Una Mas Cervesa".

A proud lifetime resident of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, Alverson has shared the stage with just about every Texas music legend there is.  Having carved out a living as a singer/songwriter, he also hosts the annual Alverson's Texas Music Family Gathering in Hico, Texas.  The Gathering sees some of the biggest names in Texas Country Music every year including artists like Rusty Wier and Ray Wylie Hubbard.  Alverson himself is known for his unique Americana sound, fusing the sounds of country, swing, Tex-Mex, southern rock, folk, and blues.

Alverson's Country to the Bone won the 2007 Best Country and Western Music Award from Ft. Worth Weekly.

Alverson has been releasing albums since 1995, with his debut album Texasongs.  His next album, Me on the Jukebox, was released in 1999 and included his hit song "Una Mas Cerveza".  He released Alive and Pickin' in 2001 and Live at Ozona Revisited in 2003.  His next studio album, Heroes and Friends, debuted in 2004 and featured Gary P. Nunn and Rusty Wier among others.  The next one, Country to the Bone, debuted in 2007 to great acclaim.  His latest album, Texas One More Time, came out in 2010.

Alverson has played extensively across the United States and Europe.  He even recorded his Alive and Pickin live album at the Chatauqua Auditorium right here in Waxahachie!

Tommy Alverson is currently touring across the Metroplex area and the rest of Texas.  If you'd like to check out his touring schedule or find out more about his music, you can find some good information here on his homepage.  You can also catch his tunes on Thursday evening, June 28th, from 7 to 8 during Jon Garrett's Live in Texas right here on KBEC 1390!
