It's Friday! Time to do something new.

This week we will be featuring three great songs from three great Texas artists.  Kicking things off this week is Willie Nelson's "Let It Be Me", a cover of a French song called "Je t'appartiens" written in 1955.  His version reached #2 on the US Country Charts and was on the Always on My Mind album.  Our second tune for the week is another cover: Lyle Lovett's version of "Stand By Your Man".  The original version of the song was released in 1968 by Tammy Wynette, but Lovett's version here came out on his 1989 Lyle Lovett & His Large Band album.  It only reached #89 on the Country Charts, but it's one of the best versions of this song (second only to the version in the Blues Brothers!).  Our last song for the week will be Steve Earle's "Nowhere Road" from his 1987 Exit 0 album.  It reached #20 on the Country Charts and has a rockin' beat that's great for getting everyone ready for the weekend!

To recap, our playlist for this week is:

  • Let It Be Me - Willie Nelson
  • Stand By Your Man - Lyle Lovett
  • Nowhere Road - Steve Earle

Every Friday, we will be adding a few new songs to the KBEC rotation.  You can hear our choices for the week on the Afternoon Drive.  If you have any comments or suggestions on who we should or shouldn't add, feel free to drop us an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
