YMCA, Waxahachie

This event is held each spring to honor and celebrate the life of Paul “Icky” Patton. Paul was the karate instructor at the Waxahachie YMCA for over 15 years. He passed away unexpectedly in August 2011. Paul was a 5th Degree (Master) Black Belt and is known throughout the United States. He is remembered as an avid runner and karate teacher, but he is most remembered for his integrity, honesty and selfless concern for everyone else before himself. The team was renamed the Patton School of Korean Karate in Paul’s honor after his passing. The tournament is held as a fundraiser for a local child with dire medical need. Net proceeds of the tournament will be donated to a deserving family who is in critical need with a small portion set aside to replace and repair equipment for Patton School of Korean Karate school.
