East Texas Drivers Fed Up With ‘Me Mentality’ Behind the Wheel

Drivers in Tyler and Longview are airing a familiar frustration: a “me mentality” behind the wheel. Running red lights. Rolling through stop signs. Cutting people off. Turn signals that never seem to get used. The complaints are piling up on local social media forums, and plenty of East Texas drivers say it’s getting worse, not better.

Part of the problem is the roads themselves. Tyler is dealing with heavy congestion, construction, traffic lights that don’t seem timed for real traffic flow, and a shortage of bridges on major arteries. Sound familiar? Waxahachie has its own version of that story as the population keeps climbing and Highway 287 carries more cars every year.

The suggested fix isn’t a new interchange. It’s basic driver’s education and a return to plain old courtesy, the kind that says the car next to you has somewhere to be too. No one’s asking anybody to drive ten under. Just drive like the other person matters.

So we want to hear from you. What’s the worst driving habit you see around Waxahachie? Tell us in the comments or call in.
