Cowboys fans got their money’s worth Sunday afternoon in Houston. Trailing by four with the clock winding down, Dallas put together an 11-play, 74-yard drive that ended with Dak Prescott hitting CeeDee Lamb for a 12-yard touchdown and a 34-30 win with 40 seconds left. Lamb finished with a career-high 17 catches for 189 yards, doing it in the city where he grew up. Javonte Williams added three second-half touchdown runs, also a career best, to keep Dallas within striking distance.
The Texans had plenty to feel good about, at least until the final drive. C.J. Stroud threw for 347 yards, Nico Collins returned from a hamstring injury to catch seven balls for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and Houston led late while celebrating its 25th-season anniversary at halftime. But the defense couldn’t come up with the stop that mattered, and the Texans fell to 0-4 on the year while Dallas evened its record at 2-2.
For the Cowboys, it’s the kind of comeback that can steady a season. For Houston, it’s another close loss in a year that’s running out of margin for error. Football fans across Ellis County will be arguing about this one at the coffee shop all week, and honestly, they should be. Who do you think had the better game, Lamb or Collins?
