The Houston Texans are 0-4 for the first time since 2020, and this one came with a gut punch. Houston led the Dallas Cowboys 16-6 at halftime, then watched Dak Prescott throw for 248 of his 335 yards after the break. CeeDee Lamb finished with a career-high 17 catches for 189 yards, hauling in a 12-yard touchdown with 40 seconds left to seal Dallas’s 34-30 comeback win.
The numbers tell a painful story for a defense that led the NFL in yards and points allowed a season ago. Through four games, Houston is surrendering 343.75 yards and 27.25 points per game. Woody Marks briefly put the Texans back ahead with a 6-yard run, but Dallas answered with a 74-yard drive that included a fourth-down conversion. Head coach DeMeco Ryans was blunt afterward, saying the defense “was not good enough,” while C.J. Stroud spoke to the team to keep spirits up.
History is not kind to 0-4 teams. Only the 1992 Chargers have made the playoffs after that start. The Texans still have the talent that made them a 12-2 team last year, but the margin for error is gone, and the debate over coaching, expectations, and whether this season can be salvaged is only getting louder.
What’s your take: can the Texans turn this season around, or is it time to start looking ahead? Let us know in the comments.
