East Texas packed a full weekend into October 10 through 12, and most of it is an easy drive from Waxahachie. The Rose City Airfest runs Friday through Sunday at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, and every ticket supports Camp V. Saturday night at 7:30, Foreigner brings its 50th anniversary tour to the UT Tyler Cowan Center, which is a rare chance to see a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band in an intimate venue.
Marshall takes center stage Saturday with the 44th annual Fire Ant Festival. Expect a 5K, a parade through downtown, and hundreds of vendors. Nacogdoches closes out fair season with the Piney Woods Fair running Wednesday through Saturday, and if you’re ready for Halloween early, World Of Khaos opens its “In Humane” and “Freaks” haunted houses in Tyler Friday through Sunday.
Free options abound as well, including the YMCA Fall Fest, the Family Freedom Festival, a beep baseball tournament supporting blind athletes, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and farmers markets across the region. The forecast calls for sunshine and mid-80s, so pack water and sunscreen no matter which event you choose. Which one is making your weekend list?
