Cowboys’ Uninspired Play Puts Brian Schottenheimer Under Scrutiny

The Dallas Cowboys are 2-4 after back-to-back losses to Green Bay and a previously winless Tampa Bay team, and the timing couldn’t be worse. This was supposed to be the stretch where the offense, finally healthy, found its rhythm. Instead, Dallas turned in its two worst performances of the season. Dak Prescott has thrown two interceptions in each of the last two games and has struggled against the blitz, while the running game hit a season low against the Packers. It’s the first time since 2019 the Cowboys have scored fewer than 20 points in consecutive Prescott starts.

That has second-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer under real scrutiny for the first time. In the locker room, Prescott and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams talked about stopping the spiral. Prescott’s take was blunt: this tests the whole team, and one win is what it takes to rebuild confidence. There’s also a quiet position battle brewing at tight end, where Brevyn Spann-Ford outproduced Jake Ferguson against Green Bay and could push for the starting job.

Next up is Monday night at Philadelphia, where two 2-4 teams that have combined to win the past five NFC East titles meet with both seasons on the edge. Dallas has lost four straight at the Linc, and the debate over coaching and quarterback play is following the team up I-35 and beyond. For Waxahachie football fans, it’s the perfect Monday night conversation.

What would you change first if you were calling the shots for the Cowboys? Let us know in the comments.
