North Texas parties report strong early voting turnout, bigger staffing after primary confusion

More than 2 million Texans cast ballots in the first week of early voting, and Dallas County was a big part of that with just over 358,000 votes. Harris County topped the state at more than 624,000, while Travis County passed 265,000. The numbers point to real energy heading into the final week before Election Day.

Both Dallas County parties made changes after the March primary, when precinct confusion turned some voters away from the wrong polling places. Democrats launched voter education websites and expanded their voter protection team and hotline. The Dallas County GOP increased its poll watcher team to 50 and is monitoring daily reports. Countywide voting is back for the general election too, which means registered Dallas County voters can cast a ballot anywhere in the county, not just their home precinct.

If you live in Ellis County, the same advice applies: check your polling location, bring your ID, and don’t wait until the last day. The final week of early voting is a good window before Election Day crowds arrive. Have you voted early yet this year? Tell us how it went in the comments.
