The Houston Rockets are 4-0 after Monday night’s 120-110 win over the Atlanta Hawks, and Alperen Sengun led the way with 29 points, nine assists and nine rebounds. Houston has now beaten Atlanta twice in three days, and the second win came without Marcus Smart and Steven Adams, both sidelined with injuries.
Atlanta kept it close into the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 95-93, but Houston answered with a 14-0 run keyed by threes from Reed Sheppard and Tari Eason. An 8-0 spurt pushed the margin to 117-95 and put the game out of reach. Kevin Durant scored 22, Jabari Smith Jr. added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Jalen Johnson led the Hawks with 21.
Coach Ime Udoka said Smart could return in the next game, while Adams is expected to miss at least another week. For Ellis County fans who follow Houston basketball, the early returns on this roster are encouraging. What’s your read on the Rockets’ start? Let us know on our Facebook page.
