Halloween weekend brings 17 events to East Texas, and there’s a little something for every kind of family. The Hot Pepper Festival in Palestine expanded to two days, Friday and Saturday. Canton First Monday Trade Days runs through Sunday across 450 acres. Kilgore’s downtown trick-or-treat runs Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m., and Tyler’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s starts Saturday at 8 a.m. at UT Tyler. Add haunted houses, pumpkin patches, trunk-or-treats and farmers markets and the weekend fills up fast.
Keep an eye on the forecast before trick-or-treating. Rain is possible Halloween night, though it may end before the candy hunt begins. A quick radar check before you put on the costumes is worth the two minutes, and it never hurts to have a backup plan like an indoor trunk-or-treat or a movie night with the candy bowl.
One last reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 1 at 2 a.m., when clocks fall back one hour. Set the clocks before bed Saturday and enjoy the extra hour. Sunsets come earlier starting Sunday, so evening plans get a little darker a little sooner. Which East Texas event is on your calendar this weekend?
