The Stars’ five-game win streak ended Thursday night at the American Airlines Center, where Montreal skated away with a 5-2 win. Cole Caufield and Alex Newhook each scored twice for the Canadiens, and Jake Oettinger allowed a season-most four goals on just 20 shots for Dallas.
Montreal has now won four straight, all of them in Central Division buildings, and it’s done it without captain Nick Suzuki, who is expected to miss two to four weeks with an upper-body injury. Jakub Dobes made 17 saves for his first win since opening night. Dallas got goals from Wyatt Johnston, who also added an assist, and Jamie Benn.
Both teams are back on the ice Saturday, with the Stars hosting Columbus and Montreal facing Pittsburgh. For Stars fans around Waxahachie, that Columbus game is the early response test after a rough outing. What do you think the Stars need to fix before Saturday?
