Two East Texas Guinness World Records That Have Never Been Broken

East Texas knows how to make a mark, and two Guinness World Records set right here in our corner of the state have never been broken. In 2019, Adam Sandoval organized 3,497 bikers at Cox Field airport in Paris, Texas. Riders came from across the country and Canada for a three-mile parade that raised $50,000 for Motorcycle Missions, a nonprofit supporting veterans and first responders living with PTSD. The record still stands, and so does the impact of that ride.

Grand Saline earned its own spot in the record books on November 13, 2010, during the Great American Peanut Butter Festival. The town assembled a 1,342-pound peanut butter and jelly sandwich — 720 pounds of bread, 493 pounds of peanut butter, and 129 pounds of jelly. That’s a lot of spreading, and nobody has come close since.

Texas holds plenty of other records worth bragging about, from the largest cowboy boots in San Antonio to the largest Bowie knife in Bowie, the largest belt buckle, and the Wuensche family’s 44 Texas Tech graduates. These stories are a reminder that small towns and proud families are often the ones making history.
