"America the Beautiful" is definitely an appropriate start to our 4th of July show!  This version was performed by married couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert earlier this year at Super Bowl XLVI.

Don Richmond is a Rocky Mountain cowboy who plays everything from the fiddle to the accordion.  We love his version of "Red, White, and Blue".

You can't have a proper Texas 4th of July celebration without a little Jerry Jeff Walker and Gary P. Nunn.  Here's one their best: "What I Like About Texas"!

Although he's not American, Elton John certainly understands what makes America great!  "Philadelphia Freedom" was one of John's #1 hits in America and was released as a single in 1975.

"A Prayer for America" is a single from the lovely Donna Fargo.  You may remember her for hits like "Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A." and "Funny Face".

Jimmy Buffett has several patriotic songs in his catalog, but tonight we've chosen to play his version of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" - an American classic!

Next, we have a song that touches on the sacrifices that keep freedom ringing across our country: Thom Shepherd's "Riding with Private Malone".

There's nothing quite like "God Bless America" sung by LeAnn Rimes!  This version was included on her You Light Up My Life: Inspiriational Songs album released in 1997.

The Boat Drunks are an Illinois based band that Trop Rock up and down Lake Michigan.  "Callin' In Gone" can be found on their Wahine Man album from 2006.

The Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic has become a big tradition here in the Lone Star State.  This year they will be celebrating their 29th picnic!  Here is "Texas on a Saturday Night" to honor one this Texas great.

"Chicken Fried" is a song that evolved over half a decade before it was released (re-released, actually) on the Zac Brown Band hit album The Foundation.  The song, with its patriotic lyrics, shot up to #1 on the US country charts in 2008.

Another song we are compelled to include in honor of our nation's birth is the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "An American Dream".  The song is from an album by the same name released in 1979.

"Pretty Good at Drinkin' Beer" is a #1 hit country song from Billy Currington.  This song is for all the people enjoying a brew (responsibly!) while watching the fireworks.

Charlie Robinson has given us several great tunes over the years, including "My Hometown" from his 1998 Life of the Party record.

Here is a Don Middlebrook song you may not have heard before: "I Make Music Where They Used to Make War".  You can find it on his Talespin CD.

"She's Like Texas" is a Josh Abbott song that we've had on the show a time or two in the past.  It's the title track of their 2010 album.

Look out for a copy of Kenny Chesney's Hemingway's Whiskey to find "Coastal" and other great songs like it.

"Anywhere in Texas" is a song that's new to our program from Kyle Park.  Park, originally from Leander, TX, has made some big waves on the Texas music scene and is starting to be recognized nationally!

Wrapping up our show for the week is another great song from Kenny Chesney: "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful".  It is from his hit CD, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems.

We hope you enjoyed our Independence Day edition of The Gulf Coast Cowboy Hour as much as we have!  As always, tune in Wednesday evenings at 7 to hear the best in Trop Rock and Gulf Coast music from across the United States and beyond.  If you have any requests or suggestions, drop us a line here.  Until next time, we wish you a great 4th of July!
